not sure if you all have this info but I ran across this cool pinball place in the middle of Seattle's china town.
5 bucks get you in, free play until you drop or... when they close, the hours are currently thurs-sun noon to eight. The curator is a real pinball guy, he keeps them all up and running. machines range from 1936 to mid 90's - 17 to 25 pins some he owns some borrowed and donated. some of the pins at the museum -8-ball deluxe -globetrotters -rack-n-roll -kiss (getting some referb) iv'e been 3 times in one month and there has been at least one new machine each time. |

I'd be interested in knowing more about the 1936 one, in case it's one that hasn't been recreated yet. A few of us are always on the lookout for flipperless and trade stimulators.

Free play, well...
I play for the Replay because else there is no goal, no challenge. Points become meaningless numbers instead of representing the heart and soul of ability and survival, of course by challenging the machine and hopefully not so much to defeat other players. I like playing multiplayer games where we are all out to beat the machine instead of each other. Maybe if you have to score a Replay on Free Play or else give up the machine to the next player in line, something that retains the feel of playing The Pinball Wizard? |

ok... the goal for me here is play 20 different machines as long as you can, post some high scores get some knocks and leave satisfied.
I agree there is a lure to taking 2 bucks into a bar and own there machine for an hour or so. What I don't get is playing multi-player and not competing against the other players!? thats why there are 4 different score area's. If you want to battle the machine, play 1 player. I did not understand the pinball wizard bit?? |

I might be wrong, but here at pinballnirvana we only have The Arcade 1 player Flash pinball games. As for online multiplayer games, there is the VP Plus add-on for Visual Pinball, but it is dependent on a high speed Internet connection and requires a VP table specially scripted for VP Plus network play. I'm not up on how many tables are VP Plus network-enabled though and I'm currently on dial-up, so my connection is too slow.
vpforums.org host infrequent tournaments using a custom scripted table that you download, so I would check over there not to miss one. Are you asking about the Visual Pinball/VpinMame games that we download and install to play? Thank you for your kind words 1234fd, but this Wizard used to blow $20 on Aladdin's Castle on a Friday night (at $0.25 for Two Games), so the title is in dispute. A couple of years later I did work up Silverball Mania to 40 credits and played it from midnight to dawn before walking away from it. I hope to get renumerated for my contributions someday! |

I was thinking about installing & playing VP8/VP9.
I don´t know anything about online pinball, & i´m quite skeptical about the performances & quality of online sims . Some of the recent creations & recreations in VP9 are amazingly close to a real table, imo. If there was anything better than VP, beside the real table, you & I would know about it & play it instead of VP!

That's right. VP/VPinMame is about as good as it gets.
I just tried to find out if PSN offers Pro Pinball online. Does anyone know? |

Click on Downloads above to visit our section for the VP Program, VPinMame, and loads of tables to choose from. We have everything from bagatelle and flipperless to EMs and the latest pins. VP plays the older games without ROMs, and VPinMame plays the newer stuff with ROMs. There's even an Easy Installer for VPinMame.

Do you need help installing the Visual Pinball and VPinMAME programs?
The quickest way to do it is to download and install the VIP kit, then download and UNZIP a table.vpt file to the Visual Pinball\Tables folder. And if it is a VPinMAME table you will also need to download the specific ROM.zip file to the vpinmame\Roms folder. Keep the rom.zip file ZIPPED. This is the link to the VIP download: http://www.pinballnirvana.com/UpDown...tall_Pack.html Else if you need suggestions for what games to play, it depends on what interests you. Some folks prefer flipperless. Some folks like the Bingo games. Some folks like Bat Games (baseball with the single Bat Flipper). Some folks prefer Electromechanical (EMs: pre-computer: pre solid-state). These are the machines that use spinner reels to display the score. Some folks only like the VPinMAME computerized (solid-state) tables with the video display scoreboard (the DMD display: short for Dot Matrix Display). I'm an older dude (56), so I've played them all, or quite a few of the different types. |

ok, I was able to download a basic board, and play it! A couple of problems though.
The board was " animal party" and the ball actually appeared to get stuck at the left upper ramp!? when i downloaded a more detailed board I got a "adobe" error, message= anable to open, file may be corrupted. This happend with a couple different downloads. any suggestions? |

Which table was it, so we can take a look and see it there a problem. And if you only downloaded VP9, and not also VP 8.1, you could have problems with any tables not for VP9, since it isn't 100% compatible with VP 8.1 or earlier tables.

As John said, stuck balls are frequent when playing tables that were designed/scripted before VP9. There you want VP8xx.
As long as you have a version of VP installed, then you only need to download VP8xx .EXE only. It will run on any current VP installation, or should. |

Um, there was an early version of Party Animal that needed design fixes, so if you can find a newer version I would try it.
