Default Tales of the Rat Fink Watch it Here or There

I got the issues sorted out with Shout Factory TV and they, in association with Hulu, have today delivered this documentary on Ed "Big Daddy" Roth.
Unfortunately, Shout Factory TV and Hulu only serves the U.S., but I would probably seek out this film through the usual alternative sources.

Pure 1960's. Pure California of a long-lost era. Venice, Ca. But I admit that I've only watched about 20 minutes of this, and I did so deliberately in order to make this a fresh viewing experience while knowing at least something about it. It is creative and definitely hallucinogenic; the kind of movie along which you may choose to imbibe along with.

There are also voice-overs by several persons who have been well-discussed
in these forums. And from the title sequence, I recognize toys that I once owned and played with. The blue Rat Fink keychain was $0.25 a piece in Hawthorn, Ca, circa '65. And the Revel "Big Daddy" model kit. And the Chevy seen prior to the Dinah Shore insert is identical to the family car that we rode in from Pennsylvania to California in '59. My Dad nicknamed her "Puttsy".
She was really a stock V-8 washing machine of a car, but she did the job.

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, his custom cars and characters.
This video was removed. The link above now works. I do wish it would work for everyone who wants to watch it. It's pretty good.

Outstanding, sleepy! Thanks for digging this up (but when do you leave time for pinball?)

Unless there was another Dinah kiss-to-the-world commersh that I missed, the car is a '53 which came only with sixes (216 for sticks, and 235 for Powerglide).

"Puttsy" was probably a later model. Around '56. I think it was a V8. But a very similar body design. My old man was a Chevy dealer mechanic in the early years.

Else, just shoot my foggy memory. But feel free to correct me.

Well shoot! I get a working link and, just their luck, they get Walmart as a sponsor with a broken javascript that crashes the page. Sometimes, when you get the "script error" pop-up asking if you would want to stop the script that isn't working well, clicking the Stop button once for every time it appears will slowly but surely push through the video spot like a plumber's helper until it returns to the film. But What a Drag That is just to enjoy the show.
The film runs fine. It's the ads that have the error.

I hope the problem gets sorted. The film sounds Great in Stereo. Like an Audio Fidelity album of the sounds of drag racing that my Brother once owned.

EDIT: They fixed the problem. The link Works!

("Ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long")

Ministry's 'Jesus Built My Hot Rod" Just leaps to mind. "These Are The Sounds Of Drag Racing" " There Is No Use Trying To Talk, No Human Sound Can Stand Up To This...Loud Enough To Knock You Down " "Where you come from is gone, Where you thought you where going, wern't never there . Where you are ain't no good unless you can get away from it."

Ministry – Jesus Built My Hotrod Lyrics
Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long

Ding dang a dong bong bing bong
Ticky ticky thought of a gun
Every time I try to do it all now baby
Am I on the run

Why why why why why baby
If it's so evil then?
Give me my time, with all my power
Give it to me all again (wow)

Ding a ding a dang a dong dong ding dong
Every where I go

Every time you tell me baby
When I settle down
Got to get me a trailer park
And hold my world around
Why why why why?

Ding ding dong dong dong ding dong
Dingy dingy son of a gun
Half my time I tell you baby
Never am I all for sure

Why why why why why baby
Sicky sicky from within
Every time I stick my finger on in ya
You're a wild wild little town bitch

Now how 'bout ding a dang dong dong dong ling long
Dingy a dingy dong a down

Every time you tell me baby
When I settle down
Got to get me a trailer park
And hold my world around
Why why why why?

In my dang a ding a ding a ding dong
A sticky sticky son of a gun
Ding a danga danga dong dong ding dong
Why why never know

Why why wack a dong a dang ding dong
Then you take it on the bill
Ding dang dong don't dong
Whoa!

I want to love ya!

Why why why, why why darling
Do you do you tell me to play?
Half the time I talk about it all now baby
You know what I'm talkin' about I said

Why why why it'll
Ticky ticky ticky ticky
Son of a gun

Ding ding dong a bong bong bing bong
Ticky ticky thought of a gun

Bing bing bang a bang a bang bing bong bing a bing bang a bong
Binga bing a bang a bong bong bing bong bing banga bong

Bing bing bang a bong bong bing bing binga binga banga bong
Bing bing bang a bang bang bing bong

Aarrrhhhh

Ding dang a dang bong bing bong
Ticky ticky thought of a gun
Every time I try to do it all now baby
Am I on the run

Why why why
It'll ticky ticky ticky ticky ticky ticky
Dawn of a gun
Bing bing bang a bong a bong bing bang a

Ticky ticky thought of a gun
Bing bip bip a bop bop boom bam
Ticky ticky through the day

If you got a doubt 'bout baby
The memory is on the bed
Why why why why why
Darlin' uh it don't know

When my time is on
Might tell me never do it on his own
If my time was all as is yours
Make me burn a wish

When my time with you is brutish
No I'll never not ever

Why why why why why why baby heavy hell
Alone and it's here it's this thunder
The thunder oh thunder
Oh!

Jesus built my car
It's a love affair
Mainly Jesus and my hot rod

Yeah, fuck it!
Songwriters: HAYNES/JOURGENSEN
Jesus Built My Hotrod lyrics Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Warner/Chappell Music, Inc., Royalty Network

I had to remove the YouTube vidi and "The Short Pusillanimous So They Can Fit More Commercials In" Mp3 version cause they don't have the 'Naration'. Also, all those words of wisdom should be included in the on line lyrics...
