Im not the one with the control problem, i gave him an answer, even changed the sig pic, and that should have been the end of it. Has it been the end of it? Of course not. New allegations had to follow because i changed the pic which were no less ridiculous than the ones before.

I also already said that i consider the case closed. Was it closed? Of course not. There had to be yet another snide remark and yet another insult and it probably wont be the last either.

Now this thread no longer serves any purpose except for bitching and flaming. Will it do any good? For anyone? No. So this crap might just as well stop, one way or another.

As relaxed as this place is, it has a few simple rules too. Simply stop the flaming and everything will be alright.

P.S.: I have just added 3 new forums. They are for the VIP (Releases, Docu, Support) but not visible to you yet. I will add content during the next days and hope to have them open before the weekend,...

Forgot to say; this is not a matter of me reading threads and then complaining about the content, this thread here is first and foremost about me and my signature which means i cant just ignore it. If i did then the misconception would inevitably take on legend status and in the end some people might believe it only because i didnt deny it. And that would be damaging not only to my own reputation but to that of the site as well. After all he accused the staff of PN to engage in some form of conspiracy, which is of course totally ridiculous, and the people have to know that,...

Two similar quotes come to mind:

Quote:
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
Quote:
"Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience."
If you're wondering which of the participants I'm addressing this to, that kind of proves the point doesn't it?

I say Phoenixx just drop the subject don't give yourself a heart attack and i'm serious you do sound stressed. I say if Jon doesn't mind you having the sig. then who cares, Yogi doesn't own the website so you should careless. I like what you have done for the new people and of course if my computer ever crashed and i had to start over i would deffinetly use your vip. I just hate seeing everybody so hostile in a pinball forum supposedly for pinball and a few other things, not about anger, being angry will get you knowhere trust me it's happened to me at a couple of jobs, and all it did was make me more angry and very stressed out that know i'm on xanax, and Paxil. School started it for me, because i had a learning dissability, so i would always get Panic Attackes and still do to this day, i can't get rid of them i've tried everything but no good. Then people at my jobs got to me, so i went over the top and almost ended up in a hospital, but then i got those medications and have been fine for a long time. Except know i'm going through kidney failure, so just to let you know it never ends trust me. So just calm down and start making happy or funny threads no more of this hostility, Ok i like you and i liked what you have done too help the pinball people. Yogi has also helped this pinball people and community. So why can't we all just get along. Dave P.

I have thought about what you said Dave and i think you are right in many ways.

Therefore the course of action will be this:

1.) The thread stays open, bitch away to your hearts desire if that is what makes you happy. I however am here for a different purpose and that is what i will be concentrating on.

2.) From now on i will concentrate on working for and with new users. Former members of VPForums are welcome with me as long as they behave decently and respectful, and they can expect exactly the same of me. People however who choose to cross me for whatever reason they believe to have will go on my virtual ignore list on the very first incident. From that point on they dont need to ask me for anything ever again and they dont need to talk to me anymore either. Exactly like it would be in real life too.

Ive said my piece,
Schöne Grüsse,
Phoenixx

I still don't understand how and why a simple question, which I had at first, can initiate another member (staffer) to crack. I admit that I was provocative a little, but that's all. I wasn't bitching (which means complaining constantly, right?) and I wasn't in a flaming temper (apart from translation errors I possibly made).! Read again if you aren't aware. This thread was untroubled until Phoenixx came along. Snide remarks? I didn't start them, but when confronted with any, I take the right to reply with any. Read again if you aren't aware. I don't want to and I can't make them all available anymore, because some are already edited and I didn't use the quote feature. It wasn't my intention to insult Phoenixx in any way first and I wasn't aware, that he could feel insulted in any way first. I think I was mostly factual. I also answered his impudent question about the 'rulebook'. He completely ignored, although I admit, that I could be wrong. I didn't pull it out my ass as he claimed. He just misses form. He wasn't willing to talk seriously to me at all, so it developed the way it is now. Now I can't undo that.

I'm not exactly sure, where Phoenixx generally antipathy towards me comes from. I guess it's still an effect leftover of one single post at VPF.com many many years ago regarding his VIP, when it was in development. I always thought that was cleared, because later we agreed to get over it, but I always felt his remaining 'hate?', which appeared here once again.

If I'm on Phoenixx ignore list now, I don't see any further conflicts. I'm generally very peaceloving, as you should know.

I don't have a problem with this thread closed or even deleted by staffer Phoenixx.

O.K., thats the straw.

Yogiholzer has openend this thread because he thought he feels 'uncomfortable'. This 'uncomfortabiliy' seemed to vanish rather quickly once i came into the thread. From that point forward it was all about making me uncomfortable, even though i have answered his concerns in a manner that should have left no doubt that his assumptions are wrong.

And that is why i will end this sorry charade now. Neither do i have any general antipathies against anyone nor did i edit any insults out of my posts. This is a blatant lie and i will no longer be slandered and insulted here.

I thought about this quote for awhile and the more I thought about it, the more I think someone like Abraham Lincoln or Mark Twain wouldn't have said it or at least wouldn't want to have it attributed to them. This quote is for followers or people who just sit and watch the world go by. I mean if someone has an opinion, then they should express it and stand by it and fight for it, etc, etc..... Here are a few quotes from the real Abe Lincoln.....

"Stand with anybody that stands RIGHT. Stand with him while he is right and PART with him when he goes wrong." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume II, "Speech at Peoria, Illinois" (October 16, 1854), p. 273.

"Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, "Lincoln-Douglas Debate at Ottawa" (August 21, 185, p. 27.

"I would rather be defeated with this expression ('house divided against itself cannot stand') in the speech, and uphold and discuss it before the people, than be victorious without it." The Lincoln Reader edited by Paul M. Angle (New Brunswick, Rutgers University Press, 1947), p. 228. For more details on Lincoln's comment see pp. 324-325 of Herndon's Life of Lincoln by William H. Herndon and Jesse W. Weik (Da Capo reprint of original 1942 edition published in Cleveland by World Publishing Company).

"As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume II, (August 1, 1858?), p. 532.

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." Lincoln's First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861.

"Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it." Lincoln's Cooper Institute Address, February 27, 1860.

And finally, here's the quote from Lincoln that is similar to the "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" but not really the same or exact quote that many attribute to him.

"I am rather inclined to silence, and whether that be wise or not, it is at least more unusual nowadays to find a man who can hold his tongue than to find one who cannot." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume IV, "Remarks at the Monogahela House" (February 14, 1861), p. 209.

Class dismissed.... Tomorrow's lesson is to ponder over the "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" quote for awhile and then let me know if you "really" think this what you would want your grandchildren to do or if this is what you would have wanted your grandparents and ancestors to have done......

nice work on the research, bob, and thanks for the quotes (i love quotes).

here's a couple of recent finds by myself:

...

“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” -Oscar Wilde

...

"He remembered the pride filled glow that had swamped Gyoko's face and he wondered again at the bewildering gullibility of people. How baffling it was that even the most cunning and clever people would frequently see only what they wanted to see, and would rarely look beyond the thinnest of facades. Or they would ignore reality, dismissing it as the facade. And then, when their whole world fell to pieces and they were on their knees slitting their bellies or cutting their throats, or cast out into the freezing world, they would tear their topknots or rend their clothes and bewail their karma, blaming gods or kami or luck or their lords or husbands or vassals—anything or anyone—but never themselves."
-From the novel "Shogun", by James Clavell

...

btw, my grandfather was a big lincoln fan and i have this left over from
his stuff, if you know anyone who might want it. 4.5" x 3.5" x 2.5"
