Default Stern Meteor - score display issue

Hi,

The player 1 score display has started to incorrectly illuminate a set of segments for each number. An image of this is here.

Of potential relevance:

1. This behaviour started after I replaced the 11,000uF cap on the solenoid driver/voltage regulator board (replaced with 15,000uF/25v cap). I've since removed the board again, checked all connections and reflowed suspicious solder joints.
2. The segments illuminate immediately prior to the third short chime when the machine starts up. Video of this is here.

Where would be a good place to start? Can I eliminate anything under the playfield (shorts etc.) at being at fault?

swap the 1st and 2nd player displays and see if the problem follows.

That's an embarrassingly simple first step. Problem still manifests itself on the same board with the connections switched w/player 2, so that narrows the problem down a lot. I'll eyeball that board next. Cheers!

Okay, this is getting silly. I have done the following and the problems are still present:
  1. Replaced Q18 as per http://stevekulpa.net/pinball/bally_disp6r.htm
  2. Replaced the IC
  3. Replaced the 100K resistors, also per http://stevekulpa.net/pinball/bally_disp6r.htm
  4. Reflowed all solder joints

This is the only Bally display in the game - the rest are Stern - but I understand that the six segment display units are interchangeable. There's also still the odd coincidence that this only started occurring after I replaced the 11,000uF cap in the solenoid driver board, but surely that would be unrelated?
