Default SOUNDS like you'll lose an hour of your life!

This site is awesome! I can spend a lot more than an hour listening to these!

https://mynoise.net/noiseMachines.php

I found this in a reddit post called "What Site Do You Think Everyone Should Have Bookmarked?" We should do the same thing. We're already a bunch of weirdos who found a pinball site in the 21st century... we're apparently well-versed in the dark, strange corners of the internet. So post your favorite spots!

I use this site for my car. Didn't even know there was such a thing...
http://www.feoa.net/

I had driven through almost waist deep water, which shorted out my seatbelts. (They run on cables when you open or close the door). So I posted that I had played U-Boat Commander, waiting for an explanation of what to fix. I got back "you have working seatbelts?!" Apparently this is a rarity because there are no parts for the seatbelts- junkyard only, no aftermarket parts are being made. Thanks to these guys I'll get a few more years out of my car. Despite it's age I can take my wife's Versa in a race. Had it to 105 this past Memorial Day on a trip. It's been like 15 years since I had it to 100.

Yep, found that one at the same time I discovered the other one! If you wanna put yourself in a Halloween mood, mix the Thunderstorm, Wind and Waves from "murmur" with this creepy noise-maker. http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/evi...eGenerator.php Play a Black Sabbath song over the whole mess and you've got a haunted house!

Man, Itchigo, you brought back some memories! I had a Pontiac LeMans that had those same kind of creepy seatbelts. There was always a question of whether or not they would let you go.

Ever have one of those days when you feel like the universe revolves around you? Well, you're wrong! And here's proof, with the most detailed pictures ever taken of the Milky Way. Give it a second when you zoom in... it takes awhile for it to load, since it's a 46-gigapixel photo.

apropos, i just randomly discovered this today-- a pic of the moon in front of the earth as snapped by one of our probes.
http://i.imgur.com/6v3uirh.jpg

i've never seen a view like that, before.

...

on a completely unrelated note, here's something for those losing their hair:
http://www.toppik.com/

i've been using this stuff for a few years now and i have to admit it's rather miraculous. i think it also works perfectly with hair regrown with minoxidil, which tends to be very fine.

as a matter of fact, when i occasionally run out of the fibres and don't feel like spending money, i just collect my own clippings, cut them in to fine pieces, add a little cocoa powder to prevent caking, and use that instead. it works almost as well.

Ruby, I didn't know what other cars used that system, but I like it. No, FU Copper, all I have to do is close my door!! Mine has a quick release at the top. Still my daily driver too, with only 160k.

Milky Way: I can see my house!!! (Home planet)

Ike, did that probe have a plate on it that said: Probe 1???

works great if you have a projector, so you can see all the details clearly.

i remember a gif like this in the past, but it looks like the same guy outdid himself on the giant ball machine.

the whitney music box-- i don't understand what's going on here, but sonically it's pretty funky... mathematically funky, i guess.
http://whitneymusicbox.org/index.php?var=v16

the one currently selected reminds me of 'sounds recorded across the solar system' if you're familiar with that project. maybe this is saturn. not quite pleasant... not quite unpleasant.

What we have here.....basically.....is.....(multiple choice)
Lava Lamp for the ears
The opening track (and nineteen others) of Pet Sounds 3
The real reason Guns And Roses are back together
The real reason why they won't stay that way
Sound I just can't get from my '66 Gran Sport (but, maybe a '92 Escort?)

I guess that's enough for now.....Coily, remember to clean your planet before you go to bed

yo, check this shiz out, bros--
http://femurdesign.com/theremin/

it's a theremin device that works through the browser. just click and hold on the yellow area and you can 'paint' some instant music. you can also choose the mathematical wave form and adjust sliders for delay, feedback and scuzz.

alrighty then, good luck on your big audition...!

I believe that one is using square waves + reverb. A Theramin produces sine waves. Still fun.
You can create a Theramin by using Generate > Tone > Sine Wave in Audacity, then use Effects > Tremolo (Triangle), Pitch Shift (for sweeps), then Reverb (use Damping and turn down reverb to prevent clip chirps). Kind of like this:

File Type: mp3 Theramin.mp3 (129.0 KB, 272 views)

what was that 80's - 90's movie where some young dude and his friends walk in to a bar / party, he howls like a wolf at the moon, and is answered by a girl who does the same, and they link up?

i think it featured bryan ferry music, if that helps.

Wait... were they actually, like, werewolves? Because I'd guess Teen Wolf... but it doesn't sound like Teen Wolf. I kinda remember it happening... well, glad I didn't have anything important planned today so this can bother me for a couple hours!
EDIT: After playing with that Theremin thing, I heard a voice from the bedroom say "First thing, are you all right? Second: aliens, huh?" Guess i had it a little loud.

haha, the true feedback of success!

anyway, i *think* the movie was about a group of 20-ish, hipster-ish friends in NYC. when they go out to a loft party or some such, that's when one of them howls just for fun, and some girl unexpectedly joins him.

i think the cast was sort of a notch below the 'breakfast club'-types... actors who didn't quite develop in to A-listers. altho i seem to recall this was a fairly well-known movie at the time. maybe around the late 80's or so.

Yeah... yeah... he's at a party talking about how he's gonna cut loose and get down and then he howls. After a beat someone howls back and he and all his friends laugh and he says something like he's gonna check that out. I can think of every single thing except what movie it's from! I think it's post-John Hughes but the best I can do at placing it is somewhere between 1987-2010... because it almost sounds like a scene from Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist. Well, it'll be easy to figure out. I'll just have to watch every film between those years that concerns post-adolescents and features a party. Can't be more than 3 or 4. Hundred. And we can't rule out post-modern slasher movies like Scream(s)... it could be a scene from one of those, like Cabin In the Woods... so that adds a hundred or so more movies

Maybe Dazed and Confused?
May be. But it's never kept me from writing here before.
Lords of Dogtown?
I'm 82% sure it's Lords of Dogtown. That's a good movie!
