Default Gottlieb 1962 Cover Girl issue

Just got a Cover Girl which was fully working. After the move to my place, the gobble holes, outlanes and center drain no longer function. They light, just no scoring so this also means that the games doesn't know when its over either. Everything else still works.

I'm not very good at fixing these games.

Suggestions?

David

What an awesome machine.

If it was changed at all when moving, it is likely a broken or faulty solder and from what I read, because of the faults in symmetry on the playfield, it is likely a broken or faulty solder or contact adjustment problem with a relay.

Since the out lanes, gobble holes and center drain triggers all perform the same function and simply advance the ball in play on the game as it's returned to the ball chute, I'm willing to bet that all of these devices function on the same relay that likely got bonked or moved so that it's no longer getting a voltage signal from either of the gobble holes, the out lanes or center drain. It could also have dirty contacts on the surface of the relay magnet or the stack switch that the relay magnet is attached to could be out of adjustment. That can easily happen if it is moved, especially with all of the relays being on that vertical bank to the right of the playfield, depending on how it was moved.

When you trigger the out lanes, hold one of the rollover wires down and listen for the relay. If you can't hear a light buzzing from the relay, it's likely a broken solder at the relay. If you can hear a relay, it's likely the stack leaf switch contacts that it is attached to, not making a good connection and could either be fouled or bent out of adjustment.

Trace one of the wires from either of the gobble holes, center drain or one of the out lanes to the relay on the bank and examine it.

Thanks for the advice. I found that the right out lane switch (6 white) had broken off it's solder. It's the double wire connecting to the switch and it coincides with the same color wire on the left out lane. I will fix and give an update. I'm guessing that this particular set of color coded wires all have something to do with the center drain and the gobble holes but I really don't know. I'm just learning.

They all activate the same thing in the game, so yes, they are all color coded and any device on the same color/tracer wire is functioning on the same circuit.

That is most likely the cause of the problem. Frequently, switches and devices require connections to be solid on others in the same circuit to complete it, but not always.

The nice thing about a fully working EM pinball machine is that when something does go wrong, it's likely that component, a bad solder or the same at it's relay.
