System 1 Problem

I have a Close Encounters pin that has the new board installed in it. It was purchased from a seller that had it fixed by a reputable pinball repair house.

Anyway, I now have two issues with the game now that I've had it awhile.

The tilt relay trips every time I power the game on but the game still boots up and starts a game but the lamps are out and the flippers don't work. If I hold the relay up, the game starts fine. The relay looks fine I just don't know what the problem is,

The second issue now is that the when a game is started (Holding the tilt relay), the 'C' rollover, the 'Special' and the '3X' is permantly lit. The game seems to score normal and it doesn't give me a 'Special' even though it's lit (because I haven't earned it)

WTH??? Any thoughts?

I'm having a similar problem with my Genie (also System 1). I've heard that there are grounding issues on the power supply boards on system 1's and that the big transistor (resistor?) on the bottom left of the power supply board should be replaced/upgraded. I'm looking to replace the whole board with a new fangled plug and play one, but everyone's out of stock at the time. Good Luck!
