My apartment management delivered their "Annual Fireworks are Prohibited" message to all of the residents. Of course, on holidays the management is not present.
I hate to say it of course, but...the residents do not always obey the rules, and some of them in fact are setting off fireworks on The Fourth of July. I know this because, in years past, I have heard them explode outside my door, and in years past I have stepped out to witness these incidents myself. Will you be setting off Fireworks on The Fourth of July? If you do, then please be careful when handling explosives, and Enjoy the Holiday.

i love the smell of burnt gunpowder / flash powder and all that. on the other hand, i prefer not to handle the stuff personally after an incident in my youth in which the fuse had gone dry and my fingers got singed.
also, i'm still remembering the xmas of 2010 in lima, which is in the beginning of summer for them. no snow on the ground, and they celebrate publically with fireworks. everyone lights their stuff as they wish without any kind of organisation. xmas eve is like vietnam, and i dare not even step outside with all the stuff flying around. anything in the states is incredibly tame after that ridiculosity. |

that was a nice fourth. i hung out on the rooftop deck with some neighbors, shootin' the blab, watching the aerial display, and cruising google skymaps to identify various stars.
funny thing was that lake erie put on a sweet lightning display that put the fireworks to shame. but it was interesting having that dual display to watch... first time i've ever seen something like that. |

How can such a thing be illegal?
Who are The People? Who is the government? |

Whilst fireworks can be flashy and fun, they are very dangerous also, taking out occasional eye not to mention the fire hazard they present.
I personally have no issue with them being illegal to use by all except licensed pyrotechnics and consider them more dangerous then any entertainment value they my have to some. Quote:

But you know, they even outlaw sparklers in most parts of Los Angeles, U.S.A.
