First Pin questions and advise

Well....I picked up my first table...a Bally Eight Ball Champ. I am pleased with it...but I do have a few questions...

1. I can't seem to even FIND the knocker. A book I have said it might have been removed at one time, but I can see no loose wires hanging in the cabinet. I haven't raised the playfield yet, so I may just not see it through the coin door. The front panel...immediately to the right of coin door has a large hole....I'm hoping that wasn't where it was bolted...

2. My Tilt and Match lights are reversed. I looked it up in the schematics (luckily came with the machine), and the wires are the right color for the lamp placement, but just light incorrectly i.e. tilt it...match lites; end of game...tilt lites. I haven't traced all of the wires yet, BUT they all look pretty original to me. Trust me..in my trade..you can tell.

3. The ball launch alley looks pretty worn. I am not going to mess with the mylar playfield (other than maybe a wax), I was wondering if it was possible to refinish...stain and poly...the launch alley without harming anything else.

4. Can the chrome top rails be polished? Is it advisable to do so?


OK...I guess that's it(for now). I figure to get in it this weekend, I've got a couple of rollovers to look at....but I might be able to handle that....I hope.
