Is there anyone here that has some custom pinball experience in solid state games? Experience with P-ROC pinball controllers?
When I say custom I mean to the extent of utilizing an existing cabinet and table and stripping it, applying new art, plastics, ramps, toys etc. And then programming the rule set, matrix, sound effects, lighting controls and music. It seems like side art, translite, back box art and plastics would be doable by someone who does signage. Theres enough ramps for enough games out there that would be awesome too, including lots of wire form ramps and chutes you could buy or salvage. Anyone want to discourage me here before I go pick up a Judge Dredd or other Williams with the DCS sound system and desecrate it? Maybe I'm just pipe dreaming here. Anyone that wants to chime in feel free. |

Depends on how creative you want to get. I have not personally dealt with the P-Roc board but I saw it demo'd last weekend at the Texas Pinball Festival. Really unique piece of work. They had a flat panel monitor mounted under the play field and the P-Roc board was able to track the ball as it rolled across. I play an asteroid type game were the ball destroyed the asteroids. You would not even need anything like a DCS machine. Any old cabinet would work. Start with a good quality piece of work and go to town. I talked with them at the festival and they said that any VP original table that uses realistic toys and ramps could be made into a real machine using there board.
I say give it a try!!!!!!!!! |

This is something that I plan on doing soon, but I am going to start from scratch, utilizing stock dimensions and existing SS parts with new toy molds and a new idea for a back glass game.
It seems like a solid piece of technology and for what potential it has, not out of the question for budget. |
