frikkin' hilarious! Both these and the cats! the suicide bomber one, though I didn't find funny, if only cause i was there in person during 9/11 and saw what suicide terrorists do. Unfortunately for me jokes along that venue are still too soon. hope someone else likes that one though, I understand the humor of it, it's just not for me is all...but the rest of them are funny as hell thanks for making me and my gal laugh out loud today!

As for the suicide bomber one, eventually you'll have to forgive those "lost souls" that actually did that horrible event on 9/11. I watched it and was in shock myself and it's no excuse for the loss of hundreds of innocent lives I understand. It was in good taste (on my part) considering it was an animal portraying it. Sorry about that. Anyway, enjoy them; there is a ton more but I have to get back to my text adventure game....STILL working on making "Waxwork" from the movie into a text adventure. So far I have the main "Waxwork" already in place and have to add the displays that come to life. Can't wait to remake this one since I wrote this one back in 1986 (on an Apple //e!) and wanted to remake it for years. Thank you Hayden Software for Computer Novel Construction Set!!!! LOVE IT! d Last edited by druadic; 03-28-2011 at 12:50 PM. |

not wanting to get too political but are you serious about forgiving them? I hope you are kidding, as i was there in nyc and got to see firsthand what their actions can do to the unsuspecting so please let's not talk of any 'forgiving' here (I also lost two friends, one in the bombing in '93 and 1 on 9/11) to their cowardly display of 'war'
anyhow the cats pics are funny I guess i can look past the 'terrorist' part, I must start to put that past behind me and forge ahead and all that i guess... just that it still hits hard at times... ooh what is the subject for your text adventure? I love text adventures everything from Zork to HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy are ya' gonna release it here or is this for a commercial profit? |

My TWO text adventures are:
A REMAKE of Crystal Caverns by Dan Kitchen, 1983 by Hayden Software. He went on to form Activision in the Atari 2600 days. One of my favorite text adventures ever made. I have the map, the commands and CNCS to make the game for the IBM PC. This is a LONG overdue remake of a classic. Crystal Caverns has about 110 locations. My second game is "Waxwork" which is being remade from my 1986 release when I used Graphics Magician on the Apple //e - I want to remake it using the IBM PC version of CNCS. I have the main waxwork building already laid out and most of the descriptions finished. I have to make the separate "waxworks" themselves and I'm also adding a few "time areas" which were NOT in both movies. It will be fun to see what I come out with. Waxwork will NOT be a small game. I'm hoping to have over 300 locations once I'm finished. The REMAKE of Crystal Caverns, 1983 by Hayden Software will be free for all. Waxwork will be available on MINI CD ROMS for $5 - I will only make FOUR of these for collectors, with some images, a manual of commands, a map and much more. It will run using Hayden Software's CNCS system. Text adventures are not commercially viable today - people have no respect for them and don't use their minds like they used to in the 80's. When the MINI CD ROMS are available, I will find a nice webpage and post about it. First come, first served when Waxwork is released. I also will be starting on a text adventure which will be about my dreams. I have no idea what the name will be but the dreams I've had are NOT nice ones. I can remember each and every dream I've ever had since I was 10 years old and the ones that have been totally surreal will be added to the game. Like I said, the title still eludes me but it must be a good one that can describe the imagery of the darkness of them all. I have been reluctant to make this game since these dreams bother me BIG TIME but they would make for one hell of a WEIRD text adventure game! I have not been working with VP for weeks; been doing my text adventures most of the time and I have other text adventure makers in which I am learning the programming at a slow pace. So far, it's been fun. Cheers; d I personally am a BIG fan of text adventure interactive fiction - words rule where graphics SUCK. I never tire of text adventure games as what your brain creates is the actual world you see. Amazing isn't it? LOVE Infocom games (have ALL of them) and I even own one out of 100 Forbidden Quest releases by Pryority Software for the IBM PC. Seems I have the ONLY COPY IN EXISTENCE for the IBM PC. Check out HOTU.ORG for it - I gave it to the previous owner for all to enjoy I just recently got a hold of Ghana Bwana for the TRS 80/IBM PC in the case with the comic book and 5.25 disk. Works great and I hope to have that up at HOTU.ORG as well. This game looks kind of like "Congo Bongo" but much older. It was well written and the comic book is all color! There are no dreams like those from Psychic devices.
Lucid dreams sent by hazers using psychic devices are the worst. Make sure you are not being Zoomed in your sleep. Perfect example. When I was 4 years old in 1958, the local t.v. station ran a spot for the original Universal Studios' Frankenstein movie with Boris Karloff. The only thing I saw was the still picture insert of The Monster's face. There was no film. No video. No body motion. I had never seen The Monster in motion and did not watch a single frame of the movie, yet that night I dreamed I was being chased by The Monster himself. He stumbled and lumbered Exactly like Karloff does in the movie, along with the grunts and growls that I had never in my life heard, and I was so terrified by this dream that I woke up immediately. It was very lucid. I had this dream once a year for several years, and after my family moved to Burbank, Ca., about 7 miles from Universal Studios, I again had this same dream, but this time I fought to stay asleep and experience the end of it. The Monster caught up with me and...he was my Travel Agent! WTF! My travel agent? There was absolutely No Reason for The Monster to represent any kind of travel agent, and my family represented themselves as poor while working in the t.v. and film industry all along and pretending not to, so I was never expecting to travel anywhere, period. We moved to Burbank from Pennsylvania by car. Around 1964 I suggested (to "nobody in the business") that Universal Studios offer a tour to the public. The tour did not exist then. 12 months later, it did. in the early 1970's I suggested to "non-industry folks around me" that they offer amusement rides at the tour. They had none. Within a year, then they did. But moot point. Yeah, they have a telepathic device that is tunable to the subject and use it to provoke emotions and so they do not need to memorize their lines when acting, and in my case, they've also abused it as a hazing tool to pretty much punch me out. Years ago, somebody, maybe Edison, developed this damned device and at the same time created the literature and "science" of Eckankar and the fictional pseudonym "Aleister Crowley" as well as, in later years, the stories of "Astral Projection" and "Out-of-the-Body Experiences" under the pseudonym of "Robert Monroe" in order to really freak people out while being abused by this very real psychic device, and still use these fictional props when they do so. The folks thinks it's funny to do it to unsuspecting people and because they live as eccentric cultists hiding their wealth and status from others. The movie "Scanners' was made to coincide with my first high power brain blasts after the hazing began, to freak me out again. After living with the thing for a couple of bloody months, I suggested the movie that became, "Brainstorm" in response to the lucid dreams the device is capable of sending. Wish I could call the cops about it, or unplug it. Last edited by sleepy; 03-31-2011 at 12:10 AM. |

I loved Scanners! but going back to nightmares when i was preteen my doctor pumped me full of ridilyn not knowing back then what it did. I recall having terrifying dreams but never could remember any of them. to this day I still get them but have no recollection as to their subject matter at all. good thing i guess since I wake up scared witless each time. also when The Excorcist first came out in the 70's my friend and I snuck into a movie theater to see it. I was 13 and it was the first movie of this type to come out ever! I had nightmares for almost a year and to this day I still cannot watch the entire movie.
oh call yer text adventure about your mind, "Mindset" or how about "Neural Pathways" or brainwaves...just thinking aloud |

faralos, you do realize that Regan is only looking for attention, don't you?
As for telepathy: http://cnslab.ss.uci.edu/muri/index.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27162401...ience-science/ The only thing about it is, they've had an advanced working version for more than 50 years. The "current research" is only cover for the working version. |

Loved seeing the family guy clip again! I love that show for pushing the limits all the time!
getting back to the 'adrift' series, I used to write MANY campaign backstories for my gamer guys to help fill in backgrounds for gaming and mapped out so many gaming sessions on graph paper, wondering how tough it would be to map out a text-driven game! hmmm... I'll tear into this thing today and we'll see...I also used to scratch-build levels in Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege... |
